6 mile circular walk to Little Bedwyn, Monk’s Lane, Chisbury
The route this month is from one of our most recent walk leaflets. It’s a 6 mile circular route from the centre of Great Bedwyn at 11.00 am to Little Bedwyn, then it heads along a bridleway over the hills from Little Bedwyn and drops down to the A4 road before heading back up another bridleway to Chisbury. These are two lovely peaceful country paths but to reach them we will have to walk a couple of sections along lanes, and briefly cross and re-cross the main A4 road.
There are no steep ascents but there are some steady long uphill sections. Bring refreshments with you and allow about 3 hours to complete the walk with rest stops. As some of these paths are little used there will certainly be nettles and long grass. Please keep yourselves covered and protected from tick and horsefly bites. There are 5 stiles – all on the homeward bound section. Livestock are in the vicinity so dogs on leads please, and we cross a couple of fields with horses.
If this walk sounds too much for you but you would like to join us for part of it, please contact me in advance (email Judy at firstname.lastname@example.org) and I’ll try to arrange a lift for you to join or leave the walk at a point to suit you.
