The Brails, 4 miles
Sunday 27th February. The Brails. 4 miles
For anyone who missed our Thursday walk this month, here is another chance to enjoy a walk through the Brails, this time with Elly in the lead. She’s a Duke of Edinburgh award scheme volunteer, who has been volunteering with the footpaths group and has planned this lovely walk for us.
Our route leaves the village behind and heads uphill, through fields to the woods. We’ll walk along the tracks through the isolated woodland of both Bedwyn Brail and then across to Wilton Brail, with its towering ancient trees. Both Brails provide a habitat for a wide variety of flora and fauna and are carefully managed to protect it. After leaving the Brails and crossing the fields we’ll return to Bedwyn along the towpath, keeping our eyes out for the kingfisher who is often seen along this stretch of canal.
Bring a drink and/or snack for a short refreshment stop on route. Moderate walking. No stiles. Dogs on leads please. Route is subject to change, depending on weather conditions.
This walk is free and open to all. For details of where to meet us, call Judy on 01672 870587 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
