Chisbury and the Chapel. 5 miles
Our walk this month takes us from Great Bedwyn to visit St Martin’s chapel in Chisbury. A little redundant thatched chapel located on the edge of the Iron-age hill fort.
From the centre of the village, we’ll enter Chisbury woods at the top of Forest Hill and then emerge onto a lane leading through the village to the chapel. We’ll have a short refreshment break at the chapel so that walkers have time to look around and enjoy the view from there.
This 5 mile walk uses lanes for a good part of its length and so will avoid mud where possible, but it will inevitably be slippery in some in places at this time of year so come prepared. There is one stile which it may be possible to avoid if the field gate is still unlocked and there’s a flight of steps up and over the railway at Little Bedwyn but these can also be avoided if necessary.
Please bring refreshments for yourself and allow 2.25 hours for the walk so that we can stop for our break at the chapel. Dogs on leads please.
