A walk through the water meadow by the dog hole (as it is known locally) and across the River Dun, then the canal to meet the bridleway to Parlow Bottom, Kelston Rd and Little Bedwyn. After the rain of recent months our 22 walkers (plus one on his Mum’s back) enjoyed a bright sunny cold morning. The surface water on the Bagshot Rd had frozen to an ice sheet and we had to negotiate that carefully. On our rest stop at the top of the hill we ate the last of the Christmas mince pies before continuing along the tarmac track and then down, past the ruined kiln to Jockey Green. From Galley Lane we took the narrow path around the cricket pitch. After saying our farewells by the wharf 12 of us continued to the church to join the Thursday Club for warming soup and delicious cake served by children from the primary school.
